April 2008 Events for Las Vegas
Usually April is a busy month for Vegas due to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention and spring visitors. April averages over 3,000 daily visitors higher than the other months of the year.
You can still avoid crowds if you plan. About a week before NAB starting around the 5th there are few events or conventions in town. You might think that all the Final Four and NCAA championship excitement would bring a lot of visitors to town, but most of them came for the early rounds and have left, perhaps for San Antonio instead.
Post NAB, Vegas gets quiet again so the crowd averse might want to target that time. The weather in Vegas moves into the very pleasant range for most visitors. You should expect average daily highs of about 78 Fahrenheit for the high and a low of 54 with 87% sunshine and mild winds of about 11.0 mph coming out of the Southwest.
As far as sporting and other events, there is wrestling, a World Poker Tour (WPT), a boxing match (Hopkins v. Calzaghe), National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the start of Helldorado Days which is mostly in the month of May.
