1. Decide before you leave home if you will gamble very much. If you push $40K- $100K through the Video Poker machines or bet at least $25 (sometimes $50) a hand on the Strip for table games, wait until you get to Vegas and ask for comps.
2. If you don’t gamble a lot, ask anyway. Pit Bosses and Casino Hosts still have some discretion although Vegas casinos have been cutting back over the last few years.
3. Tix 4 Tonight is an almost half-price ticket source in Vegas with 6 locations:
- Big Coke Bottle in Showcase Mall (north of MGM)
- Hawaiian Market Place (3743 LV Blvd. S)
- South of the Riviera (wooden shack)
- Fashion Show Mall
- Four Queens (Downtown)
- Bill's (newest location, formerly Barbary Coast)
Half-price ticket vendors open at 10 am (post shows at 9:30 am) and stay open until 8 pm for those who really want to procrastinate. Go about a half hour to hour early for best seats. They sell tickets good on the same day of purchase with a few next day shows now and then..
Seats are often very good for some of the less popular shows. You may find 2-5 of the higher rated shows on sale but it is strictly hit or miss. Recently more of the top shows have been getting discounted such as the Cirque shows.
4. If retired or active military, a final resource is Nellis Air Force Base ITT. Their inventory of cheap tickets is poor however. They are better for non-headliner, non-production show type of events. Call 702-652-2192. Military ID required.
5. Online ticket sellers can either sell the same day or days/weeks in advance and you don't have to wait in a long line. One of the best is Goldstar which can be as low or even lower as the half-price shops. There is no charge to sign up for membership and you can also see what is available in other cities such as:
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
- Chicago
- Washington, DC
- New York
- Boston
- San Diego
You usually pick up the tickets at Will Call at the theater or get them mailed to you if you order well in advance. Note that in the table below, some shows like Blue Man Group and X Burlesque have 2 classes of tickets offered with 2 discount prices.
Of the shows below, Blue Man Group, Le Reve, Penn and Teller, Steve Wyrick and George Wallace are the better picks. We have not had a chance to review Men of X, Comedy Stop and Sin City Comedy. The latter 2 might be similar to other comedy clubs that are hit or miss depending on who's there that night.
6. If all else fails and you can’t get cheap tickets but still need to see a show, there are ticket scalpers who will charge a premium to the regular box office price. For some sporting events, they may even be many multiples of the regular price. Ticketsnow is one of the more reputable vendors but you will definitely pay for these quality tickets.Â
